Capitol Associates Services:
General Psychotherapy: Psychotherapy, once called the "talking
cure", can be extremely useful to help people recover from past
hurts, change maladaptive patterns of behavior and achieve life goals.
A wide range of psychotherapeutic approaches are utilized by our clinicians
for children, adolescents, and adults. Psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral,
interpersonal, and supportive psychotherapy are only some of the options
available. Psychotherapy may involve just the individual or may include
spouses/significant others and family members. Short and long-term group
therapy is also offered. After an initial assessment, you and your therapist
will decide which approach (or approaches) is/are best for meeting your
needs and goals.
Couples/Family
Therapy: Many of our clinicians work with couples and families to improve their
relationships and functioning. Marital problems, divorce issues, parent/child
relationship concerns and sibling conflicts are some of the issues that
can be addressed in psychotherapy.
Psychopharmacology: Sometimes the quickest route back to recovery from a psychiatric
disorder involves medication. Our psychiatrists are available to see
patients for medication evaluations and follow-up treatment. This is
frequently in conjunction with psychotherapy with another clinician.
Anxiety/Mood
Disorders: Anxiety and depression are extremely common psychiatric conditions affecting
up to 20% of the population. Our clinicians are experts at diagnosing
and treating a wide range of mood and anxiety disorders including: major
depression, dysthymia, bipolar disorder (also known as manic-depression),
post-partum depression, seasonal affective disorder, generalized anxiety
disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive
disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
